Facebook Legacy Contact

Did you know Facebook has a Security Setting entitled Legacy Contacts which allows you to designate a friend or family member (but only one with a Facebook profile) to manage your Facebook account upon your death?

A Legacy contact will not have full control of your account and they will not be able to see your personal messages but they will be able to choose whether to keep your profile online or not, change your profile picture, accept friend requests and post tributes. Legacy contacts will not be able to edit or delete existing content on your profile but you can give them permission to download a transcript of your Facebook history.

If you do not wish to assign a Legacy contact you can set your account to ‘self-destruct’ on your death.
